Hello,
I have applied for a greencard for my parents and have filed the I-130 and I-485 concurrently.
I received a yellow letter - Request of initial evidence for I-485, affidavit of support for proof of current income. I had submitted the I-864 and the IRS transcript for the latest tax year (filed joint with my spouse) which is over the 125% poverty guideline as evidence.
The request for evidence has all 3 items checked and I was asked to provide evidence for ALL 3 (Current Income, IRS returns/W2 and Assets).
My question is regarding the ASSETS.
QUESTION: My income in the past 6 months has exceeded 175% of the poverty guideline ($39,962 for a family of 6 i.e. family of 4 + 2 parents being sponsored) and has met the minimum 125% poverty guideline. Do I still need to submit asset information? I called the NCSC helpline to talk to an immigration officer and was told that I should submit as much evidence as I can and that they could not suggest if I should or should not submit any specific documentation even though income has exceeded the poverty guideline.
**** PLEASE ADVICE: If I have to submit Asset information, I need help with the below:
1. MybBank accounts and property are joint accounts with my spouse.
2. Will USCIS accept joint bank / property documents as evidence of assets? or do I need to get a letter from my spouse stating that I can use the assets as evidence for the affidavit of support? If so is there a template that I can use?
****
Thank you,
Geeta
