  • affidavit of support question

    Hello Everyone ,

My husband USC is at the stage where he is getting ready to submit out affidavit of support. He has recently started working again, he has gotten a new fulltime job. He was unemployed since October 2013 . He was in a good job before as his last three years tax return showed that he made over 55 k each year. His new job is paying 25 k a year. It is a household size of 2. Me and him. He also has over 50 k in his savings account. Will it be a problem sponsoring me since he wasn't working for a few months? Also, I am the beneficiary , and I am unemployed for a few years now . My mother has a small business and I help her to run it . Throughout my life I have been going to school fulltime and I completed college in 2010. Do you think we will be fine and our process will go through smoothly? We have been married for. 13 months. I live in Jamaica, I was denied a visitors visa before....

The months your husband did not work, should be explained in an attachment along with his 2013 tax returns; but as long as it's above the required amount, he sponsoring you should b ok. (Say, above $19,700.) That's for 2 people.. if his 2013 taxes r below, this figure, then he should seek a joint sponsor, covering their household size, you and your husband. Good luck.

His tax returns for 2013 shows that he made over 50 k. He did stop working November 2013...

Well, he is fine then, as expected, based on your information. His current taxes would b listed as $25,000., which is still in good and over the property guidelines. I suggest, along with his 2013 tax returns, W2 n or 1040, he send a job letter stating the security of this job, since he started it recently along with 6 months pay stubs. All the best!!

I'm just rereading your first post. Which month did your husband started working? Sounds like u may not have 6 months pay stubs but he should send from the beginning of this new job, along with that letter, stating, date of employment, how much he earns, stating hours and security of the job.....(see affidavit instructions)

Thank you so much for your help. He started the new job on sept. 25 th , Monday gone.... He will wait a couple weeks before preparing the affidavit. I just pray that this will b fine because we don't have anyone to sponsor us.

U said. September 25, but I think u meant August, 25. Since u said, Monday gone. Anyways, having a current job is important as it protects the question , about his current salary. Along with the letter I suggested, he should, if possable wait until he have at least 6 weeks week pay stubs. Thereby, a proper calculation can b maid of his current job. Six months pay stubs is mentioned in the instructions, however.
