  • I-130 Question 13 (via parents, no certificate number but have a US passport)

Hello, I hope you are well.

I have searched extensively online and have not found an exact answer
for my question, so I was hoping the members of this great forum could
    help.

Background: I was not born in the USA, and immigrated here with my
family when I was young. My U.S. citizenship was acquired through my
parents after I was born, before I was 18, and after February 2001. I
have received (and even renewed) a U.S. passport, but have NOT received
a certificate of citizenship in my own name.

I am petitioning for my spouse to get a Green Card and am filling out
the last part of question 13 in form I-130, which reads "Have you
obtained a certificate of citizenship in your own name?".

Will it be fine to answer "No" and attach a photocopy of the
biographical page of my passport along with the Certificate of
Citizenship numbers of my parents? I am trying to avoid having to file
an N-600 (which would take up to six months and $600).

For reference, form i-130 Line 13 reads:
If you are a U.S. citizen, complete the following:
My citizenship was acquired through (check one):
    [ ] Birth in the U.S.
[ ] Naturalization. Give certificate number and date and place of issuance.
[X] Parents. Have you obtained a certificate of citizenship in your own name?
[ ] Yes. Give certificate number, date and place of issuance. [X] No

I think I found something online to support answering "Parents" and "No".
Not sure if this is the correct answer, but it's nice to see some confirmation of the theory.

on one of the websites that get *'d

    Answer from diavatirio (999):
