This is nothing new in the rule. That rule has always been there. If you can prove that you are battered and abused spouse, you can file without the approval of your US citizen spouse.

I read "Sandesh" and "Gujarat Samachar" every day. And those people often write misleading or inaccurate information about US immigration. This may not be intentional but due to their lack of understanding of US immigration law, and translating from English to Gujarati, notes taken by reports who are not familiar with US immigration when other experts speak.
