Visiting Visa V/S Family based Green card (from India to USA)

Hi, I just got interview date for my citizenship in December 1st week in NJ. And my parents lives in India. My mother wants apply for visiting visa for USA before I file her application for Family based green card.

1. Can i apply for my mother for Family base green card if she is already in USA on visiting visa?
2. What happen while she is here visiting us in USA and I have already apply for her family base green card and her visiting visa expired? Can she still live here until she gets her green card?
3. How long it will take for her to get green card if she is already here in USA on visiting visa?
4. How long she can stay on visiting visa in USA?
5. does she have to leave the country(USA) if here visiting visa expired but already have file open on family based green card? (I want to apply her green card as soon as she come to USA)
