  • I-751 approved, can I remarry now?

I'd like to hear of people who have similar experience to mine. I just got my i751 approved based on spousal battery. I was divorced before it's approval. I would like to remarry now. I have been in a relationship for almost 9 months now I don't know what kind of impact it can have on my N 400 in the future. Please only people who had similar experience or know about someone with similar situation

Once you have your 10-year Green Card, marrying someone different will not cause any immigration problems. Before the I-751 approval, a new marriage could have been a barrier to persuading USCIS that you did not divorce the first husband in order to remarry.

I have worked with immigrant women with identical concerns who were trying to obtain I-751 approval, and the USCIS documetation suggests that a new marriage during adjudication of the I-751 process may be a "red flag."

Thank you Ray B! Really helpful comment. This was the reason we didn't marry before approval. Even though we met a year after my divorce. We didn't want to mess my case up.
