  • my American wife dont have SSN can she still submit I-130

    dears.
My American wife dont have SSN can she still submit I-130. we have been married for 1.5 year now and we live togather outside USA. she was only born there and never visited.
we applied for her SSN last week here at the embassy but they infromed us that at least it will take 8 months to be issued and even more.

can any one advise if we can still file without it and is there any chance for me to get approved since she never lived there?!

by the way i used to have a valid B1/B2 visa and it was expired few months back and i tried to get new one last week but i was rejected under 214(b) even thought i visited USA more than once and my guess they rejected me because i am married now to US citizen.

    waiting your help

If an I-130 is submitted by a U.S. citizen for a relative, and no SSN is shown, she can expect a Request for Evidence (RFE) during the processing of the petition. I can't accept that it would take 8 months for an SSN to be issued. If your wife applies from within the U.S., she would get the SSN within a couple of weeks.

thank you Ray for your reply
she is applying for her SSN from the embassy in Jordan and they said it will take at least 8 months if not more.
it is even write in their webiste
"How to Apply for a Social Security Number:

After you have completed your application, the Embassy can assist with the submission of the form and the supporting documentation. The Embassy does not retain copies of SSN applications or issued SSNs. It can take up to eight (8) months from the date of application for receipt of an SSN and card to be issued to the applicant."

can we reply to the REF that we applied for her SSN from the embassy and it is taking time?

      thanks for prompt reply

If you haven't submitted the I-130 yet, include an attachment with copy of the Embassy citation and copy of the SSN application.
