Hi.
I am a Canadian on an L-1B and living in Canada. My wife is American. We've been married 11 years and she has not naturalized to Canada yet.
I want to take a job offer in the United States where they do not have a Canadian subsidiary. I do not qualify for TN, though I am a professional consultant.
As I understand it, I can move to the United States while on my L1-B which expires next April, but I cannot work for another employer.
What are the steps:
(1) Move to US under L1
(2) File I-485, I-130, Advance Parole, and I-765 (EAD) simultaneously.
(3) Wait for I-765 to come in and then switch jobs.
(4) Able to travel back to Canada once Advance Parole comes in.
