  • Return flight booked but wanted one-way to prove intent to live

    Hello,

Apologies if this has been asked, a time-consuming scan of the forums yielded no results.

I am a US citizen, I am sponsoring my wife to live in USA. I've been living in England for 8 years and am moving back to America. We haven't bought a house there yet or rented temporary accommodations yet.

A one-way ticket was purchased to help prove our intention to stay there however opodo (very unhelpful) sold us a return ticket. I'm currently taking this up with opodo but it is a difficult fight despite the fact that I have a receipt for a one-way ticket and a booking for a return ticket.

My question is this: Will having a return ticket cause red flags with US immigration (even upon the point of entry) or will they understand that travel agents 'do this all the time'?

Other factors that probably do not affect this: My wife has had her medical and her appointment has been scheduled for the first week of march.

Thank you and if there is any other information I can provide, please ask.

    K
