  • Approved for Greencard

My husband and I just got our case approved for our greencard the other week. We originally submitted our paperwork on August 5, 2014 and received the green card a week after our interview on February 4, 2015. It's very exciting for us and we will be making a video on YouTube in the coming weeks about our experience and will post the link here to help out people that have questions. We also wanted to answer the questions that we had and had hard time finding the answers to.

Just wanted to share the great news!

During interview, they didn't ask you guys why your family members were not present for your wedding?

zenwahs8 - We applied for our case from the US before his J-1 Visa 30 day grace period ended.

cliff - They did ask us why we were the only ones present at the wedding but we explained the situation completely and honestly. We told them how we had every intention of having an actual ceremony where we would renew our vows with our families and friends once we had more money, probably by next year when we both are out of college. At first, it did seem to raise a little suspicion but she could tell that we were being honest about our situation. Our first wedding was just something special between us, and our next ceremony will be with our family and friends.
