  • Parents green card visa interview- don't want to tell them about my marriage

    Hi all,

I am in desperate need of some help. My parents have the immigrant visa interview coming up soon. I also got married a couple of months back. All the documents are in order; however, I still haven't told my parents about the marriage since it's a inter-caste marriage and my parents are very conservative. I was thinking of telling them before the visa interview but my mom got really sick and I know that she couldn't have handled the pressure of me telling her that I got married without her consent, especially to someone who is not from our caste. She is better now but I know that she still won't be able to take the pressure (atleast not for 1 year before she fully recovers- this is what the doctor told me.).

    My questions are:
    1. Do I need to tell my parents about our marriage? Will the US consulate ask them questions about my marriage?
    2. Can they be denied a visa if they can't talk about my marriage?

    Please help!
