Hello,
I applied for a IR5 visa for my dad in July 2014. I recently submitted the required I864 and supporting documentation. Also paid the IV fee in order for the site to allow us to complete the I-260 form.
My dad was deported from the US at a border crossing in 1975. Deportation was based on illegal crossing to the US only - no other related criminal charges were applied at the time.
QUESTION: does he have to submit form "I-212, Application for permission to reapply for admission in the US after deportation or removal"?
The removal happened 30 years ago, however, the form is not precise on the details for applicability. The form does state that it is not necessary to apply after 20 years of the removal date.
if people are not familiar with this situation, is there a number available to call USCIS and find out about this type of question?
