I am a naturalized US citizen, and have a teenage daughter who lives with her mother (my ex-wife) in England. I want to sponsor my daughter for a green card so that she can come live with me, and I understand the process for the green card application. What I am not clear on from the USCIS website is if she can come over here first on a tourist visa and then adjust status to permanent residence if I file the I-130 form as soon as she arrives. I want to get her over here ASAP due to her current situation at home, and don't want her to have to wait while the I-130 is processed, and then either the green card or a K-4 is issued. I read on the USCIS website that adjustment of status is possible if the applicant is legally in the US. Does anyone know if a tourist visa meets that requirement?
