  • I-130 Outside of the normal processing time frame ?

Hi everyone. So I have a couple of questions. Wanted to know if anyone here is in the same predicament as I am in.

I filed a I-130 Petition for a Alien Relative for my 3 brothers back in 2008. Shortly afterword, I received a receipt notice, along with receipt numbers for all 3 cases. Then in 2010 I received a letter requesting additional information for 1 of the 3 applications I sent. On the USCIS website, it states that the processing time for a I-130 for a brother/sibling is 5 months. Its May 2015 now. Clearly its been more than 5 months. I called today and submitted a service request since this is most definitely outside of the normal processing time frame. I've been told I will receive a letter in the mail within 15-30 days. Now, my questions are:

    1) Is anyone here aware as to why there might have been such a delay in my case? What can be a probable cause for it being so delayed?
    2) Is there anything I can do to help expedite the process?
    2) Has anyone else on this form experienced the same situation as I'm describing?

I'm just worried and don't want to get some bs answer when they do mail me back.
Any input/advice would be greatly appreciate

    Thanks a lot! =)

Your petitions should have been approved in a year or less, but would then move to the National Visa Center to wait for the Priority Date to be current for an available visa slot, about 12+ years (depending on the country).

You need to find out whether the petitions are still being held by USCIS, and why. Run the receipt numbers against the USCIS status page at:
View case status online using your receipt number, which can be found on notices that you may have received from USCIS. Also, sign up for Case Status Online to: . Receive automatic case status updates by email or text message, . View your case history and upcoming case activities, . Check the status of multiple cases and inquiries that you may have submitted to USCIS
