  • I-130 for my unmarried son over 21

Hello everyone. I am glad that I have found this site that is obviously very helpful and informative on a subject as complicated as immigration.

Anyway, I filed an I-130 for my unmarried son who is over 21. The receipt date says Dec. 2002 and I filed it in Texas SC. For texas now, it says they are currently working on May 2001. California is working on Jan. 2003, Vermont (April 2004), and Nebraska (Oct. 2001). If texas is so overloaded, is it not possible for them to send it to a faster service center? For example, California or Vermont? Oh, by the way, I am filing this so that my son can return to live here. Let me explain.

I filed this type of application for him in the late 80's and he arrived in 1992. He subsequently got his green card. Not only that, but got a SSN, worked a part-time job, and attended middle and high school. Unfortunately, he went back to visit our native land and stayed for a couple of years; basically revoking his permanent residence status. The only option we had was to re-file an I-130 but we didn't do that until 2002. Is it possible to regain permanent residence status? I appreciate any responses. Thanks.

    1. You can't move to faster service center.

    2. Only way is to start all over again which you are doing any way.
