  • Is it bad to sponsor many relatives?

    Hello,
I am a US citizen, and I want to sponsor and petition I-130 for my relatives. I will do a petition for my father and mother. But I was wondering, I also want to do a petition for my brother and his family, or sponsor him for green card visa. Is it bad to sponsor so many people, and will this have a negative effect? I know that the father/mother sponsor process will take a few months, and the brother takes years. Thank you.

you can sponsor as many people as you want. just make sure you have enough income to support them...

If you can afford to, petition for as many relatives and employees as you can. You can always find joint sponsors or rely on the intended immigrants assets when the time comes.

It is always sad to see folks having to wait longer they needed to, because someone who could have and should have petitioned for them, didn't.

"I should have petitioned for them sooner, but 13 years seemed like a really long time". 7 years later they realize that time flies, and that there are no better options.

How long will it take if I sponsor a sibling?

        Hello,
I have already filed for my parents, but I am just wondering: If I do file for my siblings (country: ALBANIA) will it surely take more than 10 years for it to process? For parents is the time 5 months?

I checked on https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do and it said

I-130 Petition for Alien Relative U.S. citizen filing for a brother or sister June 22, 2011

My question is, what does this mean? I read here on the forum that it takes 13-15 years for a sibling. Could it also depend maybe on the country?

        Please,
        Thank you so much!

I don't think country matters but I could be wrong because countries like phillipines and mexico take alot longer. look at the following link to see visa bulletin dates:

What's the difference between visa bulletin dates and processing timeframe? USCIS

So I checked your link, and it shows like 12 years. But I'm wondering what is the difference between the processing timeframe in the USCIS website and the visa bulletin dates?

            Thanks!
