FAMILY based green card

i came here as a visitor visa( b1/b2)but before expiring my visa i changed it to student visa (F1) still this case is pending it means i am waiting for approval for f1 (student visa). by this time i just got married in usa ,we already registered married in city hall here nyc. my wife is a lawful permanent resident card holder, she is living here 3 years .should my wife apply for me now or should i wait until get approval from uscis for f1 visa.
i want to konow how long take approval for i 130 petition , in the case of both of us staying in united states.
