  • Petitioning for my parents, do I need to attend the interview?

    Hello,

I filed a i130 and i485 my parents had their biometrics appointment in Los Angeles 3 weeks ago. However from what I've read there is an interview process. They also don't need to leave the country because of the 245(I)

I am leaving to study abroad in Europe for a year and I'm afraid I won't be in the U.S. At the time of their appointment.

Do I need to attend? Is there anyway I can call in or Skype? What are your experiences?

Thank you all in advance for any help

I have had that experience specifically, and adult child was present for questioning on both sides/party. (Parents and Child).
I would suggest you cancel your appointment if possable. Cancelling and delaying interview, is never a wise choice. Unless, however, it's totally impossible. Good luck!!

I could also fly back for the interview since my parents don't want to delay the process for a year.

I was just wondering if there was alternatives. Thank you

Yes, it's great to know you can do do. Have everything in place, prior to your leaving, so all is in order.
