Thanks for helping out!
I would like to ask a few questions about I-864 Affidavit of Support (AOS).
Background:
- My husband is the immigrant. He's Canadian.
- He's currently a graduate student in the US, making about 36k in 2014, barely above poverty line.
- He's going to graduate in 2017 and of course we don't know what he'll do after graduation at this point.
- I'm the wife and US Citizen. I quit my job in 2013.
- We got married in 2013. Our daughter was born in 2014. We have been married for over 2 years now.
- In 2013 we filed jointly and our total income was 98k. In 2012 his total income was 23k.
- My father (US Citizen as well) is going to be a joint sponsor. He makes about 60k. His household has my mom and my little brother. I'm no longer their dependent. He files jointly with my mom, totally about 110k.
Questions:
-Q1: Am I required to put my husband's salary on my I-864? If it's not required, is it beneficial for me to put it down in Part 6 where it says "Income you are using from any other person who was counted in your household size, including ... the intending immigrant."? A graduate student does not have a steady source of income obviously as he's going to graduate in a few years.
-Q2: Does my father put down on his I-864 JUST HIS income in Part 6 #2 individual annual income, #14 current income, and #15 my current household income?
- Q3: Does my father put down on his I-864 THE JOINT income with my mom because they filed jointly in Part 6 #19 "my total income as reported on my federal income tax returns".
Thanks so much in advance and Let me know if I have any misunderstandings.
