Just had my interview today, so figured I'd post my timeline since seeing the others were so useful. Hope it helps.

04/11/2015 – Got married
05/05/2015 – Sent files to USCIS
05/06/2015 – USCIS received files
05/12/2015 – Files received by USCIS
05/22/2015 – Biometrics appointment notice received and scheduled for 06/02/2015
06/02/2015 – Biometrics appointment
07/16/2015 – USCIS ordered EAD card
07/17/2015 – USCIS approved employment authorization
07/23/2015 – EAD Card shipped
07/25/2015 – EAD Card (with advanced parole) received
07/29/2015 – Interview scheduled for 09/03/2015
09/03/2015 – Interview and approved. Officer told me to check status this afternoon or tomorrow and to expect greencard in 4-6 weeks.

My husband and I have been married for three years (been together five years) and we have a daughter who is American. I would appreciate any help you can offer me on how to proceed with the application? I am in the US right now on a tourist B1. Should I apply from here or wait till I return to country of residence? What additional documents do we need? thank you so much.

My marriage based green card application

We just had our interview today, which was approximately scheduled two and a half months after we submitted the application.
Everything went well, the lady that was out interviewer was beyond polite and sweet.
We did not have a lawyer, and I prepaired the application by myself, and with the help of Google search!
I sent the envelope by express mail to a office in Chicago on September 27
October 2, my application was accepted
October 6, they accepted the fingerprint fee
October 27, biometrics scheduled and done on that date at 8am
December 3, scheduled for an interview
December 15, EAD and AD got approved
December 20, received EAD in the mail
January 8, interview done, approved on the spot.

We didn't have that many proofs of living together, no lease, or bills. We had bank statements, car insurance on both names, on both cars. We've been married for only 4 months, so we couldn't collect that many papers.
We was acting like our normal selves during the interview, and I believe that they can always see when couple is truly in love.
Another thing on my case is that my J1 visa has been expired for longer than year now and they didn't ask me about that at all, seemed like it didn't matter.
She didn't even look at our photos, or any other document. She kinda cheated like a friend with us, and the whole process was really opposite of what I was expecting.
I am so thankful that this is done.
And if anyone needs help with the application, I am willing to help, since I obviously did mine good.

Congratulations on the approval!
Do you mean you overstayed your J-1 visa by one year and they didn't say a thing? Were you subject to the 2 year home residency requirement? I am currently fulfilling mine in my home country because I was told there was no way around it!
I'm really happy that the interview went smoothly for you, I hope it'll be the same for us.

1. On July 13, 2015 applied I-485, I-130, I-765
2. On September 23, 2015 EAD card mailed
3. On February 22, 2016 Interview in local USCIS office (wait for 8 months to have interview)
4. Wait till now (It has been 6 months after the interview)

Thank you so much for posting your experience. I have been married with my husband for 6 months and know him since we were 12 years old he is an international student and we decided to get married we are trying to do the procedure and read about how it works and can't afford a lawyer so I was wondering while filing the I-130 what exactly beside the money order and the form itself is there something else that we should send? should we send that form first then proceed with the rest of the forms like the adjustment of status and everything else please help and thank you

07/09/2016 - married my husband (same sex couple)
09/21/2016 - sent our application (I-485 + I-765 + I-130) ...
