  • Usa immigration - family

My husband and I are married for 10 years. I have two sons aged 16 and 18 years of age from a previous marriage and he has two kids from his previous
marriage. His son became a US citizen and sponsored his father Feb. 2015. When my stepson contacted the USCIS to ask if he can sponsor us too, their reply was to put our names and date of births on his father's/ my husband's petition, I-130. His interview will be scheduled in JHB, South Africa cuz we are South African citizens. My husband got a letter from NVC to make a payment but only my husband's name is on the letter.
My question is: Does it mean my husband is the only one getting permanent residency and not us and that we will not be able to live with him in the USA?
We have non-immigrant visas but my youngest son is in Grade 11, 1st semester and my 18 year old just graduated in June this year. We currently live and work in Canada.
How will this effect my boys schooling. Will it mean my youngest son cant study at high schools or my eldest cant attend university? We applied for Springfield,MO. Its so confusing. Cuz some threads said we will be included in my husband's application. Others again says to fill in seperate I-130 forms.
Can any one on this site help me out with advise please.

Separate, I-130 should have been submitted. Find out if that was done.
But what's most important is, at the time of your marriage to their father, where his children or should I say, the his child that is petitioning his father, was he a child (18 or u der) when you got married to his father?

It seems your names were just added to his I-130, only.
You may need to have your step-son, or your husband preferably contact NVC, promptly and inquire what step to take in this matter. Good luck!
