  • I-130 Form - Intended address to live & Last name

    1. My husband recently bought a house and won't be moving in until December of this year. Should I be listing this as the address that I intend to live in (C - 18) even though it will not match up with his current address? If I do this, should I manually write in a note stating that it was a recently bought house?

    2. Also, should I be using my married last name on this form? I did not change my name on my passport yet because I JUST got a new one right before our wedding. I would like to go by my married last name on all government documents in the future, but not sure if I can do this without getting a new passport.

    Thank you!

1: Preferably, you and your husbands address should be the same.
2: Whatever name you choose to put on the petition is YOUR choice. If you choose to use your married name then you will have to get your passport renewed and it is advised to do so before your petition gets to NVC and the Consulate (since you will be required to submit bio graphic data of your passport when your case is at NVC), it is the same cost as a getting a new one in most countries. Remember: Whatever name that is on your passport will be on your VISA and your Green Card will be issued according to the name on your Visa.
