I am an unmarried adult (over 21) son of a us permanent resident. My petitioner (mother) has got citizenship a few months ago. My immigrant visa interview in us consulate in Ankara-Turkey is scheduled in 5 weeks. I am engaged now and I was wondering if it is better to wait for my immigrant visa is issued and then I get married or it is better to marry before I get immigrant visa. I have heard that if I get married before my immigrant visa is issued it will take less time to bring my wife to US (follow to join) Is this true? how this can affect my eligibility as an unmarried adult son of a permanent residence (considering the fact that my petitioner is now a us citizen).
    Thank you very much

Are you getting VISA under F2B or F1 Category.

If you are getting under F2B and you mother is now citizen,
the consular officer will convert your category to F1 and
you will have to wait another year to get visa under F1.

If you marry now your category will be converted to F3 (much longer delay depending on your PD)

You are better off being single while they are issuing visa. If you are covered under CSPA and it will not apply to you if you get married. Get your immigrant visa first and then get married.
