  • Conditional GreenCard and now divorce...

    Hi all,

I have already read a lot on this board about similar situations but I believe my story is a bit different and I would like to ask you kindly for your experience/help.

I came to the states in 2014 on a F1 Visa to study. End of 2014 I met a girl that since then changed my life big time.

We feel in love and decided to start our lives and finally married in Feb 2015. We moved together shared bank acc. Insurance ect. and decided to get children by the end of the year. I received my con. GC. In August 2015 and we went to my home country for a late honey moon. I stopped going to school and started working the same job I did in my home country.

After we came back she stopped working and I had to pay for everything. We started to have fights and with time these fights became worse but not violent. Last week she left me and said she wants a divorce. The break up comes very fast and I believe she found someone new, which hurts me a lot but I can’t prove it or do something about it.

My life right now is a big mess as I don’t know what to do... What options do I have?

thank you very much for reading and answering.

You don't really have options at this time. You will not be able to convert your conditional green card into permanent one.

If the marriage lasted less than a year, you don't have much leverage to request a waiver from joint-filing for your 10-year card. But USCIS reviewers have been sympathetic to spouses whose marriages ended as abruptly as yours when evidence was provided that the marriage terminated through no fault of the applicant.
