Hello and thank you in advance for your help with this!
My wife came to the US from Mexico at the age of 16 without a Visa of any kind and has been in the country ever since (12 years or so). We were married two years ago and we have one child together. I want to apply for residence for my wife, but I know that the process is a little bit more difficult because she entered the US illegally. I also know that she will need to leave the country to apply for her Visa, and then have to re-enter the country.
My question is, can anyone let me know what forms I need to file for her and what steps I need to take in order for her to become a lawful permanent resident? We do not have the money to hire an immigration attorney, but I am confident that I can handle the process on my own. If any additional info is needed, please let me know. And again, THANK YOU to those of you who take the time to reply to my post. This is extremely helpful for my family!
