  • F1 status to permanent greencard

    Good Morning everyone,

I'm a permanent resident(green card holder) just recently came to the US petitioned by my daughter. I want to petition my son. He's been in the US for almost 2 years under F1 visa and currently going to college here. My questions are:

Since I've been paying for International Tuition fee for my son (which is a lot for min 12 units ), I'm just wondering if I petition him to be permanent resident as a status change from F1 to Green Card, would it be ok for him to take a break from school or be part-time in school and not be out of status with the Immigration Service Department?

    I appreciate your help!

    Thank-you!

What is age of your son?
If he is below 21 years he will fall under F2A category.
If he is above 21 years then will fall under F2B category
Check current VB that how much time is required for have a visa number.

Keep in mind that if your son takes break he will be out of status. he must maintain 12 credits min.
