  • Question about Port of Entry

    Hello,

I'm a regular lurker here in the forums. My wife has recently passed her interview at the embassy. My main question is, does she have to fly direct to the US port of entry (LAX)? or can we fly there with a flight that has a stopover in Japan for example?

I'm just wondering if that is a concern when she arrives in the US, that we stopped at a different country before going to the US.

Thank you! This forum has been very helpful, but I couldn't see any info regarding my concern.

Well it does not matter if your wife have a stop over in Japan or fly direct to US. CBP will not give you any problem because of that.

If your wife is flying on ETIHAD airline via Abu Dhabi then her immigration and customs will be done in Abu Dhabi and upon arrival at LAX she will be coming out from terminal as a domestic passenger.

I have a similar dilemma. What did you end up doing? Did you take the stopover? were there any issues?

it doesnt matter where your stopover is. If its a high risk country they might do some investigation if you went outside of the airport...

No need for direct flight. You can have stop.
I remember when I flow to US first time. We had stop in Bangkok and Hong Kong before entering US and we had no problems
