History:
US visa issued in 2012 - I applied with then husband.
I had got a divorce in 2009 from the local courts, however learnt it was not valid in India (home country) as they used wrong clause etc and ex had not signed any documents.
I couldn't file again - as ex was very very abusive. We applied for US visa together - again only because he threatened me to do it - I was not interested in US travel. He insisted we should go and try renew our marriage. I refused to travel and he finally agreed after years to split and got a mutual divorce in India in 2013.
In 2015 I went on one trip with the ex and kids only because he is not so nice to them and younger one has some special needs and he was going to travel with them.
In 2015 I travelled 5 times to the US - some purely business, some purely personal, some both
My visa got damaged by a lost in thought airline official (trying not to use abusive words for him)
During my last trip I married the love of my life.
I had, have and will never break the law. I run an international business in Dubai and was not going to try correct my status there. I came back here after we married. I had to reapply for US visa as the airline buy damaged it by mistake. They asked for an interview (I assume because of my changed marital status). After a one hour grilling my visa was refuse and my damaged visa stamped with "Cancelled without prejudice".
They were not happy that I travelled with my ex husband in 2015. I did its a personal situation - I really wasn't going to talk about the abusive situation with the ex for the 20+ years I know him. I told them the basic that it was for the kids.
I have had a terrible personal life since childhood and then my first marriage - here I met the love of my life. We have taken 5 trips of mine to US + 4 trips of his to where I live + one in between. Its traumatic for us to be separated and now we are both in shock.
I don't understand well what the issue was.... Although my intention was to continue residing in Dubai and for now and us to keep flying to/with each other and for him to slowly move here or me move there - depending on whose business was doing better.
I will now apply for residency - I will happily throw away my business and leave for the US we can't be parted. If only Husband comes to Dubai our gaps of meeting will be too long - as he has businesses and kids.
Anybody with experience of applying in Abu Dhabi Consul for permanent residence as spouse of US citizen. I have a feeling they may have thought that this was a sham divorce or something because they asked about my relationship with my ex. and this is a green card marriage or something. as I met my husband online...and we married in a year after meeting. The man I have married is the love of my life - every minute without him hurts. Our marriage is as real as it gets ... how am I going to prove this Any random photo of ours will say that but of course they refused to look at our pictures - video I guess I can't even taken in as they don't allow phones and USBs....
