  • FORM 1-130 for mother- she has no permanent address

I am a naturalised US citizen and looking to sponsor my retired mother over to the US.
She is a British citizen for over 30 years and has sold of her apartment last year and is travelling around South East Asia (to see family ) and now has no permanent address

Can I use a 'in care of' addresss?

What should I do in the situation where the person is travelling and has no longer has a permanent address?
Can she do her inteview at any US embassy or would it only be in the country of her citizenship?

I dont want to make a mistake so looking for as much guidance as possible.

Unless mom has a residence or employment-based visa in another country, she must be processed in U.K.

She needs to have a contact address in the U.K. where she can receive mail.

      Thank you Ray,
Thats what I suspected, she will have to be interviewed in her place of citizenship.

So now my question is, can she put a trusted friend's Care of address in the UK...? (Do I need to write in care of, will that hurt the application?)

And does the embassy tend to give people good notice of an interview date should she acquire one so she has time to get back to the UK in order to be processed? She plans to return to the UK but will want to travel occasionally

Yes, a "C/O" is okay. It's not an uncommon way of reporting a contact address. The manner of interview assignment varies by Embassy. I can't speak for the UK U.S. Embassy. In Philippines, the applicant selects her on interview date online or by phone. In other Asian countries, the date is sent about 4 weeks in advance by postal mail.

Thank you thats been very helpful- I think I might have just over complicated the case by overthinking! Someone mentioned I need more than just the 1-130 form? And do need to prove that I earn enough in order to sponsor her over or something?
