I am a canadian citizen and I just got married last weekend in the US. My husband is a US citizen and is currently doing his residency. I have yet to start the process and dont want to delay it by doing it incorrectly. Having read some of the comments, I think the first step would be to fill the I-130 application. At this time I do not need a visa to enter the US. Will I have a problem once we submit the application. I have a job here in canada and do not want to move there till I am able to find a job and work there. Does financial stability play a role in getting the visa since my husband had his educational loans to pay off. would appreciate any help i can get

you have a couple of options
1.he can apply i-130 and i-485 concurrent which will give you an approximate 9 months( that is if all goes smooth) of time before you get your green card.
2.he can apply a wife visa or fiancee visa not sure how long that takes to get approved
3.if you can get a job offer in the U.S which gets you a TN visa then apply for your i-130+i-485
