  • US citizen filing for brother - time lines

    Hello,

I am US citizen, I want to file for greencard for my brother. Whn I look up times lines - link - https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processingTimesDisplay.do - it says 5 months for
"I-130 Petition for Alien Relative U.S. citizen filing for a brother or sister"
What does that mean? Is it that fast? If I apply now, can I expect greencard for my brother that fast? People say it takes 10-12 years, where does all that delay happen?
I am new for this, so please bear with me..

    thanks
    Silas

Yes, it will take at least 12-13 years for him to arrive in USA. Current cutoff date for India F4 (brother sister category) is 2003 and we are in 2016.

      "People" are right.
The 5 months avg is to documentarily establish your relationship. The wait for an interview is an additional 12+ years in that category.
