will a final decision on my I-495 come sooner or later?

I have been in the USA for 2 years and have applied for permenant residence after getting married to my wife, a US citizen. We attended our interview in Novemeber last year and had to submit further information to support my case which was recieved by the office in February. We are now told that we may have to wait another 240 days for a decision. Is this normal for Maryland, does it take the full 240 days?
