  • How to report Fraud?

I'm travelling overseas visiting a friends family to attend a wedding for my friends cousin and overheard a conversation they were having. My friends cousin received their U.S citizenship sometime during the past few years. This cousin recently met "the bride" who is in the U.S on a student visa. Her family has agreed to pay my friends cousin $30,000.00 U.S.D to marry her and help her gain her green card.

They married a few months back and are now overseas having their "Wedding". They are very open about it and have openly mocked the immigration process and how easy it is to milk money out of it. I was originally planning on keeping it to myself but then I became aware of some more details.

The plan is to get her citizenship and then she'll collect federal benefits while sending money back home. I also became aware that direct family of the cousin who has married her is already doing this with their federal benefits.

    How to proceed from here?

i think u should stay out of people business, it is not ur job to take the law under your hand. ur friend's cousin would go to jail and has to pay a fine. the wife would just get deported and banned from the usa.

if u don't support it, don't go to wedding and drop them as friends, but don't ruin people lives.

if u wish to report ur friend's cousin u can call USCIS customer service 18003755283

I was fine with that until I found out about their systematic use and abuse of U.S welfare. I have no desire to contribute to someones intake of tax funds so that they can send it home and give their family and themselves a lavish life. We have enough shortage of money and supplies for the people who have real need of it in the U.S.

I understand ur frustration completely, but usa citizen born and raised do the same thing. it is not up to u to judge their decisions. it is up immigration officers to fish out fraud and judge them.

if u make u feel better then report them. just be prepare for consequence of ur decision.

$30,000? That's a lot of money my dear. advice the people to use their money to start a good business instead of dashing it out for free and still putting themselves in trouble. Let them know when they get to the US, they will work their butt off to get such a huge money. Just give them a good advice. They probably are ignorant of their action.
This is not a legal advise.

i thought so also!! that is a lot of money to pay someone just to show up to the interview and answer couple questions. the immigrant should apply for a work visa and marry someone for love. i personally will not pay someone $30 Grand for marriage when i know the consequences.

USCIS 1-800-375-5283 -They are committing fraud in our country and it effects all of us here. People that say mind your own business??? They either have no idea how things work or they sympathize with them for personal reasons. One of them is actually saying, if you witness someone committing a crime or know of someone committing fraud, you don't have to do anything about it. Let someone else worry about it. Horrible.

This is my opinion and not legal advice. Use of this information is to be used strictly at your own risk.

lol u r too dramatic!! she said she knew the marriage was a fraud from the get go, but she still encourage it until she knew the details. she is somewhat of a hypocrite in my opinion. i advice her if it makes her sleep better at night she should report it. if i was us citizen i would drop her was friends for been 2 face and hypocrite. in order to report fraud she has to have some proof to present to USCIS.
if these couple actually fall in love in this process then she will look like a complete donkey. thats is why i said leave people situation alone.

I'm inclined to agree with the "leave alone" responses. Making a report of suspected fraud to a government agency is a serious step, and without evidence (other than hearsay) and proof of serial criminal activity, the report and accusation is a bold step which could hurt a lot of people and affect their lives.

*Read this as an opinion, not an legal advice:* I can't agree more. I am an immigrant myself who's going through the Green Card application process right now. People like the ones described in the topic give mr. Trump an opportunity to drive anti-immigration polemics.

Topic starter (and other tax-payers) already suffer from these fraud marriages! People like me -- the law obedient (potential) immigrants -- can suffer as a result too!

Yes, the other commenters are right. It's not us who can judge about such cases. It's the real judges who have this right! So may be let the judge figure out? How far can eyes closing lead the American society? Sure, the hypothetical things that are happening on the neighbor's back-yard are not our business. But what if these things we not intentionally overhear or oversee are crimes say against kids? Should we report 'em or not?

To dear topic starter. If I were you, I'd definitely consult with a lawyer before taking any action. I would hate to harm myself by acting without assessing my own risks; but the responsibility would burn me inside if I didn't act. So, the lawyer may be a good option to start with.
