  • Renewed visa while in US, haven't left the country yet. Which visa number to use?

    Hello everyone,

I have posted this same question at Adjustment of Status section but I didn't get any response there. I should also note that I've seen people post similar questions but none of them received an answer. And those posts are really old, I doubt I can ask the OP about how they went around filing their forms. So, I'm trying my luck here.

    My situation is as follows:

I'm a A-2 visa holder, married to a US citizen for over 3 years now. I got my first A-2 visa in 2013, it was valid for 5 years (expiration date is 2017). However my passport expired January of 2015. I got a new passport in 2015 and upon receiving my passport I applied for renewal of my A-2 visa here in the U.S. without having to get out of the country so that I wouldn't have to carry my old passport around. I was given a new A-2 visa with a new expiration date (2020).

When applying for change of status, via I-485, it asks me about my last entry in the US (as stated on my I-94) and my passport/visa number. My last entry into U.S. was made with my old passport and old visa. I haven't left the U.S. with my new passport/visa yet. So when I pull up my I-94 travel history nothing comes up with my new passport/visa information. When I use my old passport and visa information I can see all my previous entries into US dating back to 2008 when I was a student on F-1 visa.

My question is; Should I provide my old passport and visa information on immigration forms or should I use the new passport and visa information? This is the only thing that's keeping us from filing our application. I know it's a little too specific of a situation but I'm hoping someone might shed a light on this dilemma.

    Thanks,
    Burke
