  • Applying for green card in home state vs. state where I currently live

    Hello,
My wife (currently in the U.S. on a tourist visa) and I are currently living in New York but I was born in North Carolina. My address in North Carolina is still on my current valid driver's license and I have a bank account at a local credit union there. I was wondering if it is possible and advisable for us to put my previous address (my parents' house in NC) on my wife's green card application. Would we have to do the interview in NC? If so, how much notice is given before the interview? I need to know if we would have time to travel to NC for the interview. I would prefer to have the green card processed in North Carolina because the wait period is currently far shorter than in most other states. Thanks so much!
