  • Is I693 required for spouse?

I am currently on h1b and my wife is US citizen. We are filing I130 and I485 together. Is that required for me to file I693?

      Short answer YES!
Long answer: Generally, all applicants filing for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident must submit Form I-693 completed by a designated civil surgeon. Form I-693 is used to report results of a medical examination to USCIS. The examination is required to establish that an applicant is not inadmissible to the United States on public health grounds.

A list of those health grounds can be found in section 212(a)(1) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

If the original poster's wife entered the U.S. on a k1 visa and the prior medical exam abroad was less than a year ago, the wife only needs a vaccination update reported on the I-693.
