  • Need advice...unique sitation

    Hello dear users,
Well let's get to it...I'm a citizen since December 2013, but right after getting my passport I went back home for a family emergency and also to prepare my marriage which took place in April 2016 in france (wife's french)..during those 2 and a half year I didn't know I was obligated to file for tax return (2013 I was still in the us so I worked but didn't file, 2014 and 2015 I didn't work as I was living with my parents and survived out of my saving). Now I'm back in the states and am looking to help my wife come in.
I am in the process of looking for a job which shouldn't be hard in nyc, but that said, after checking the USCIS and numerous posts from this website, I came to realize that I will need to sponsor my wife by filing the affidavit of support, and I will need to state how much I make annually and also copies of my last 3 years tax returns (that I never filed for)...
My question is how will that be a problem? should I ask the help of a joint sponsor or should I just apply and write a letter to explain this situation along with the form I-130?should I contact a lawyer? will it make it easier as they "know what they do" (supposedly)...
I would really appreciate some answers or someone who had a similar situation to share their experience with me

    Also wondering...

I am also wondering, since I am a free-lace artist and designer, I get paid by commission. I also worked in 2014 > 15 but not 13', wondering if that's gonna be an issue and what I should say for the 3rd year? I know, I shouldn't be stealing threads.

Anyways, I've got a bit of an answer for ya. As far as I am aware - since she is your spouse you do not have to meet a requirement to support, however, you simply have to prove you can support her (how? I have no idea, I'm going through the same thing you are, though I have a job waiting for me back in the USA... reminds me also, anyone know a more formal way of saying "I have a job waiting, guaranteed."?).

Good luck! I'll also be stalking this thread.
