  • Help on Family based Greencard - category F2A

    Hello immigration experts,

I have a question about my brother's green card. I am currently a US citizen and recently filed for my parents greencard and received approval yesterday (yay!) they are in india so I am estimating about 6 more months before they get the immigration visa and come here and get their green card. Now my question is regarding my brother. He is born on 07/31/95 and is unmarried and will turn 22 next year (July 2017). As per visa bulletin it appears that the wait time is close to one and half year if my parents were to file for his green card after they get theirs? However, we need to do that before July 2017 - since he will turn 22 then. So does his file need to be approved by July 2017 for him to be F2A or we just need to have the paper work in? Also what is the wait time for approval on green card petitions for F2A? It took 6 months for my parents application to be approved (under my citizenship status). The wait time between F2A and F2B is significantly longer and I was hoping somehow to get his file in and approved before he turns 22. May be this is not possible, but just wanted to get expert opinion on this matter.

Also does anyone know the timeline of how long it will take for my parents to get their immigration visa, now that I received the approval letter here in US? (they are in kolkatta. India)

    Really appreciate your wise counsel!!
