  • Question about I-864

Some background: I am a US citizen and living with my family(husband, kids and my parents), my sister is a green-card holder living with her family. Right now I am sponsoring my parents to apply for green cards.

I don't have income now and my husband won't take legal responsibilities to sponsor my parents. So my sister will be a joint sponsor.

I worked from time to time in last three years. And my husband and I had joint tax returns. There means the total income on the tax return form 1040a is including my husband's. The situation is the same for my sister's family. Only difference is that my sister has a steady job with a income a little below 40,000.

This brings one question for the form I-864: In 19a, 19b and 19c, shall we write down my and my sister's own incomes from w2 respectively or the total income on joint tax turn form 1040a respectively for the recent three years?

Another question is that my sister should be the only joint sponsor in part 1, right?

    Thanks!

received i864 but my wife(the petitioner) make enough

    Hi all
I file documents for Green card, just give fingerprints couple days ago, but yesterday i got request for initial evidence. It says my wife the petitioner on i 130 have to find a sponsor. She actually make enough to cover the 19500$ we just didn't file one of her w2. So my question is should we still look for a sponsor or just to send them w2 which shows she is making enough. Thank you
