  • Need advice on filing I130

    Hello,

I am a Turkish citizen and my sister is a US citizen. I have graduated from an American university. I hold a 10 year visitor visa with only about 5 years left until it expires.

I am planning to have my sister file I130 but I have some doubts to clear before doing so.

    - I often (about once a year) visit my sister and her family. If we file I130 and my visitor visa expires will it be hard to renew it? I have never overstayed or became illegal in the states and not planning to.

    - I am engaged and in about a year later I am planning to get married. Would it be wiser if I wait untill I get married? Can I include my fiancee in my application at this time? Or can I apply right now as single and later change my status to married?

    Any input is appreciated.

    Thank you.

Well non immigrant and immigrant visas are two different things. So your visit visa will not be affected by filing of I-130 petition. Also renewal of your visit visa will depend on your satiation at time of renewal and upon satisfaction of counselor officer.

You cannot add your fiancee to your I-130. But if you get married after filing of the petition then you can later request NVC to amend the original I-130 petition and add your wife's name in application.

      Ir5 visa

Hi guys, I just need an advice for my parents petition. I filed my petition for my parents last Oct, 2016. They got approved Feb. 2017. I submit all the requirements that they needed, AOS, IV application, and Affidavit of support last March. Then after two months which is last week, I receive a letter from them regarding the form I-864A Contract between Sponsor and Household member. They send me a checklist about my husband which is my co-sponsor, he forgot to sign one of the pages of the form so we re-submit it right away to the NVC. How long do I need to wait again for them to give me an update on my parents petition? Im just curios because I've been waiting for my parents interview. It says on the letter there priority date is October 24, 2016? What is that means? Thank you and Godbless!
