  • H1-B with approved I-140 getting married to green card holder

    Here is my current situation:
(1). Visa status is H1-B and approved I-140 under EB-3 category with Jan 2011 PD.
(2). Company recently agreed to change the green card filing to EB-2 category (same Jan 2011 PD) (Additional ~$500 for filing I-140). Will file I-140 soon but then long wait time for EB-2 category.
(3). Fiance is a Green card holder and looking to get married soon. Once married I plan to file marriage based green card. This will result in a new PD for this filing but wait time is considerably less.

    Here are my concerns:
Que 1. Can two green card applications proceed side by side? I read conflicting reports about some facing problems during the interview etc.
Que 2. Once married, do I need to notify my company that I am beginning another GC application based on marriage? Also, will marriage have any effect on existing EB-3/EB-2 application?

Will appreciate any input on which is the preferred option and response to the above questions.

    Best
