Joint Sponsor is Married - I-864 or I-864A?

Hello beautiful people.

I am the Sponsor, I am needing a joint Sponsor. In this case, the Joint Sponsor is married, but we are only using his income (not his wife's).

Since the Joint Sponsor filed his 2015 Tax Return jointly with his wife, does he need to file an I-864A, or is it okay if:

- I complete my I-864
- Join sponsor completes I-864 (only using his income for 2016)

Is that correct?

If he is not counting his wife's income, then his wife does not need to fill out anything. However, some consulates may require his wife to fill out I-864A and be his household member anyway.
