Green Card Adivse.....Help Needed

My mom is a Green Card holder. Her Green Card is set to expire on Feb 13, 2017. what would be the feasible travel time for her given that her Green Card is expiring soon. Will ending Jan 2017 be a good option to travel or she should travel to US before that? i dont know if there is a certain travel date that you have to meet before your green card expires.

Any help would be highly apprecaited.

The card is valid for re-entry as long as it is valid (i.e. up to the day it expires). But she should have applied to renew it (or applied for Removal of Conditions if she is a conditional permanent resident) by now, and she should be able to get an I-551 stamp for proof of permanent residency in the meantime once she has applied to renew it.
