I'm petitioning for a green card for my husband, who was brought here as a child and is a DACA participant. We began the paperwork in October, and sent everything in to USCIS with the help of a friend of his who is a paralegal.
In December, we received a Request for Initial Evidence, asking for documentation to prove my income. Which I had already sent. I obediently sent it in again.
Today, we received another Request for Initial Evidence, this time asking for my husband's tax return. Which we also already submitted. This letter has the ominous words "final request" written on it.
Does anyone have any idea why they are requesting information they already have? It was all legible, in English, and for the correct tax year. And if they truly needed my husband's tax return, shouldn't that have been included on the first request when they asked for my documents?
Any advice on what's going on and how to proceed would be appreciated. If there's something they still don't like about our paperwork this time, I'm afraid they'll just deny our application. If you need additional information other than what I've provided for you to understand my case and help me, just let me know. I'm not an expert (clearly) so maybe there's more you need to know in order to figure this out.
