Do I Need to File Taxes Now?

Hi all,

I'm looking to apply for my wife's green card this week (by Feb 1st). I haven't received my W-2 and obviously the tax deadline isn't until April. Does anyone know if I have to file my taxes and include it even though we are filing for the green card before the tax deadline?

If your filing is for Adjustment of Status, use your 2015 W2 and Federal income tax return.
But at your Adjustment interview, in a few months, you will need to take the 2016 tax return and W2 documents to the interview.
