  • 1-130 approval but no i-797 (have been waiting 6 months already)

Hey guys i need your advice. i got married on August 2015 and my wife (american citizen) applied for the i-130 in October. Got my I-797 with my case number and 5 months later they called me for an interview in florida. Because i applied in florida but then moved to Alabama (before the interview was schedule) the person who was doing the interview told me that they didn't have the jurisdiction to continue with the interview even though I was there more than an hour proving that my marriage was real (dated my wife for 6 years before getting married). They sent my case to Atlanta(they cover Atlanta and Alabama) and told me I was going to be re scheduled for an interview there. I waited a few months but didn't get an answer and uscis didn't have any update my case. I made an appointment to the Atlanta office to ask about my case and when i went there they hadn't done anything with it, guess my papers where just in an eternal pending mode. Anyways, I talk to one of the ladies an she told me they just needed my wives signature on a form and didn't tell me anything else and send me on my way. My trip to Atlanta was august 23 2016 but didn't see any changes on the uscis site or on the customer phone line until two months later when i saw something that made my day and was that on the uscis page it said the following:

"On August 24, 2016, we certified the approval of your Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, Receipt Number LIN......, and sent it to the appropriate appellate office. That office will send you a final decision. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address".

I was really happy about this but waited a month for some type of letter from them but nothing. I finally called the USCIS customer line and the answering machine said the same exact update of my case but included that they sent me an approval notice in the form I-797. I haven't received anything. I have called them and they don't tell me anything. One of the girls told me to call the national visa center so i did and they told me they didn't know anything either. My wife and I are really confused about this. We don't know exactly what to do at this point. I have my lawyer in florida but he has no jurisdiction in Alabama. He told me that they have to send me theI-797 where it says my case its approved so i can start applying for the adjustment of status but it has been already 6 months and no news from them. Should i get a lawyer in Alabama? I already paid money for all this process and really without work i cant really afford to pay more but we are desperate . Can you guys tell me if its normal having to wait that long to get the i-797 form if the uscis says on there site the i-130 was approved 6 months ago?? I'm i wrong and that message doesn't mean the I-130 is approved yet so i have to keep waiting?? what else do you guys suggest me to do?

Thank you guys in advance and hope you can give me some hope .
