Getting my SSN after the interview

Hi evreyone,
We finally got our CC and waiting for an interview in ISRAEL,
My question is:
Once we finish the interview what will be the fastest way to get my SSN (i need it for my new job).

I read that it will be sent in three weeks to the US address, but three weeks counting from the end of the interview or entering the country?

You only become eligible for an SSN when you become a permanent resident, which only happens when you enter the US.

You don't have to have an SSN to start work; you just need evidence that you applied for it.

Out of interest- once US entered at first port of entry - if someone ges to the nearest SSN office can they then request proof that SSN aplied for and possibly the number as it seems the norm that the card will be sent a few weeks after applying
