  • Concurrent filing I130/I485 - Lost passtport (Stolen)

    Hi all,

Long story short, I'm here on L1 Visa, married a USC an year ago. Before I could mail my application, a theif broke the window my rental car and stole my laptop bag and Canadian passport.

My question is two fold, I've copy of my passport, and L1 visa.

    1) Can I apply for I130/I485 and other forms while I am in a process of getting a new passport from Canadian Consulate.
    2) Should I mention and provide police report# in a separate letter to USCIS in my green card application Package.

i've read on many forums that I don't need a passport. New I130 asks for a passport number for the beneficiary which wasn't required from what I understand.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    -Thankyou!

A passport is not necessary to apply. However, you will need some form of valid ID to get let into the biometrics appointment.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
