VISA status change from L1 to GC or citizen thru marriage to a US citizen

Hi,

I am in the US since June 2004 on L1B VISA and my VISA is valid until Apr 2007 which can be renewed upto 2009. But this August (2006) I am marrying a US citizen in India and coming back to settle here. Pls let me know the application procedures & requirements to change my VISA status from L1 to GC or a citizen.
I would also like to know how long its takes for this status change to take effect.

Your advice on this query is highly appreciated.
