  • Principal Immigrant

    Hi,
I filled for my parent for green card, now they passed the interview and both have received their passport, However the letter they received from the embassy says "Principal Immigrant" should travel first.

When i filled our I 864, i was separate one for my father and one for my mother, both as principal immigrant. Is it OK if they both arrive separately in the USA?

    Please do share your thoughts.

    Thank you.

    Yes, they can arrive separately.

This is my opinion and not legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

They are each principal immigrants on their respective petitions. They have no derivative beneficiaries -- they are in the Immediate Relative category which cannot have derivative beneficiaries anyway.

They can arrive separately but the first applicant Father/mother should enter the USA first or the accompany must enter USA after the primary applicant. the accompany should either follow or enter at a later date

No, this is wrong. There is no "primary" or "accompanying" applicant here. Immediate relatives cannot have derivative beneficiaries.
